Greetings Krewe Babalu!
"Babalu Goes to the Dogs" event had a very good turnout with 38 members attending Gulf Greyhound Race Track on June 2nd. Some members won impressive bets! Facilities and service were great. Many thanks to Kristen Bennington & Bryan McMertrie for doing an excellent job on such short notice!

The TV Raffle in May was won by Kokos Merkides. We know he will be watching the football games on his new 31" screen TV. And speaking of football games...the 3rd Annual Babalu Football Pool "kick off" will be held at the July 3rd general meeting. Squares are $25 each with $100 paid out at the end of the fourth quarter/no overtime. Make sure you get in on the pool now before the squares are all gone! The Talisman Cruise that was previously planned and delayed, with much disappointment, is still "in the works". Stay tuned for developments.
The 2nd Annual Rock-N-Bowl has been set for September 15th, Saturday night. The first promotional announcements will be given out at the July 3rd general meeting. We had our 1st annual Rock-N-Bowl in 2000 with much fun and success! You don't want to miss this and you don't have to bowl a perfect 300 score to enjoy this event.
The Krewe Babalu Ball chair, Greg Quinn, and committee are already at work on plans for our Mardi Gras ball in 2002.
Also on the agenda for the July 3rd general meeting:
a) Members will submit suggestions for Krewe Babalu's own 2002 Mardi Gras theme to compliment this year's "Salute to the British Isles". The member with the winning theme will receive a surprise gift. Their name, along the new theme, will be announced at a later date.
b) Four sketches will be displayed so members can vote on their choice for the "2002 Limited Edition Medallions" to celebrate this year's Mardi Gras theme. Our wonderful Krewe Babalu standard medallions will also be available.
